Our company has had a lot to learn during this coronavirus outbreak. Normally we are talking about the specific speeds of a copier or about paper thickness or how it will help people with their jobs. We are learning something from this pandemic that is a great reminder. People matter!
A client may call us, and they are now doing some work from home, and rather than speaking about the specific piece of equipment we have, we are having conversations. We are finding out about the fears and dreams our clients have. We are learning about a divorce they had 15 years ago and how that experience rocked their world and they thought they would never make it, but they did. We have heard about times when people lost their jobs, and then they emerged stronger. We are learning more and more how the human experience is about pain, adaptation and ultimately victory.
We have seen the news as well, we worry like the rest of the country for our vulnerable friends, neighbors and associates. We know this time is extraordinarily difficult and a challenge for people. We are finding the calls we are making is helping us connect with our customers, and we are remembering why we are in a business designed to serve people. We are able to talk to our old friends who bought a unit 3 years ago that has been running smoothly. We are able to share our lives, and in this, we are finding hope because we are hearing stories and learning how amazing our employees, our clients and our community really is.
We have chatted with some on the verge of tears wondering if their business will survive, yet they still have the grace to ask how we are doing. We talk with others who have tremendous hope during this time and believe we will conquer this, like we conquer everything. When we take time to listen, we are learning. We are returning to our roots of remembering how important our relationships really are to us. We want to connect with our clients more. We want to help with the printing issue because we know our clients have enough other issues stressing them out. We want to be a blessing.
Most importantly, we want you to know we care. We are in this together. It is not just about copier repairs, color copiers, Sharp copiers or all of that. It is about human connection. It is about caring. It is about serving. We have used this time to reinforce our values and to share our lives in a way we haven’t been able to in a while, and we want you to know how much you matter to us and how encouraged we are as we speak and interact with every client over this trying time. We can get through all of this, and we remember that our reputations are not made in the good times, but in the hard times. We encourage you to remember now is the time your reputations are made and your legacies will be formed. Be great.
